Today, the fifth grade class went to camp. This morning it was raining very hard. I felt sorry for the kids. The rain has stopped now, but they won’t be able to cook on the camp fire. Several teachers went to the camp to make curry for the students.

Hi,
When I was a high school student, our grade went camping. We all knew a typhoon was coming to the area where we were headed. Fortunately the rain & wind were not so heavy when we arrived and we could cook and finish our dinner in the evening. However in the middle of the night around 23:00, we were all awakened by teachers to evacuate to a safe area since we were in the center of the typhoon at that moment. Finally we could stay in a hotel lobby in that area overnight, and went back to our camp after the typhoon had passed over. Then we found all our stuff and tents had been washed away….

SN – I seem to remember hearing that story about 18 years ago. Thanks for sharing again, it is still amazing that they would take youths into the path of a typhoon. I’m glad you survived.
