Japan is minting new 500 yen coins. The coins have two colors: gold and silver. They started minting the coins in 2008. Every year they will make about 6 new types of coins. Each type of coin represents a prefecture, so there will be 47 coins total.
The coins have English writing on them.
Yesterday I saw coins representing Kyoto and Shimane prefecture. I thought they were not real.
Have you seen any of the new coins?
