Busy Day

September 14, 2011

I had a very busy day. In the morning I went to the doctor’s office for a cancer test. I went as soon as the office opened. They found no sign of cancer.

I went straight to work from the doctor’s office. Work wasn’t very busy, but some of the students were behaving poorly. If the students are misbehaving, work feels busy.

After work, I went to our new home to help with cleaning. My wife wants the new house perfectly clean before we move on Saturday. Today we washed every window and the sliding glass doors.

In the evening, I went to the photo society meeting. I thought I had a good photo, but I only got 8th place in our contest. Afterward, we ate late dinner and I caught the last train home.

How was your day? I hope it was good.

Homemade Balloon

October 14, 2010

Today a teacher and a student made a giant balloon. They cut open trash bags to make plastic sheets. They taped the sheets together to make the balloon. They used a fan to fill up the balloon. They tied a plastic string to the balloon.

When the sun was shining on the balloon, it got hot and flew up into the air. It went up about 20 or 30 meters. I was very impressed. They wanted to attach a camera to the balloon, but it was too heavy.

The balloon was leaky, so it got heavier and heavier as the air leaked out. Some other students noticed the balloon outside the window. After that, they couldn’t concentrate on their class.

They wanted to use black bags because they would get hot in the sunshine and rise faster. Unfortunately, most garbage bags are clear now. I want to make my own balloon now.

Have you ever made something interesting like this? What was it?

Using the Internet

August 19, 2010

I like using the internet. I use the internet everyday. Many people have an image of the internet as a playground.

There are many silly games and entertainment sites on the internet, but there are many useful sites, too. Today I need to visit my cell phone company. I wasn’t sure if there was a store near where I am now. I checked on the internet and, in less than a minute, I found a store two blocks away. This was very fast and convenient.

Instead of printing photos here and mailing them to my family in America, I can order photos to be printed at a store near my mother. This saves money and fuel: very ecological.

One can even study English on the internet.

What do you do on the internet?

Handmade Paper

February 7, 2010

Today I went to a special exhibit in Ise. The location was a traditional paper factory. They make all the paper for the Grand Shrine. A photographer printed his works on paper made at the factory.

It was interesting to see how photos change when they are on handmade paper. Some of the photos look 3-Dimensional.

Oversleeping

January 13, 2010

This morning I overslept. Yesterday morning I overslept. Every night I have a busy schedule. I am worried that I might oversleep tomorrow, too. Tonight, I canceled my plans, so I can sleep.

Tonight is the monthly meeting for my photo society. I really enjoy hearing my teacher’s comments. Also, we often go out for dinner afterwards. I am sad to miss the meeting, but I need more sleep.

Forgetting the Year

December 9, 2009

Tonight I have a year-end party in Hisai. It is a party with my photo society. We are eating at a very nice restaurant. I look forward to lots of tasty Japanese food.

We are supposed to forget everything bad that happened during the year. I like to remember the good things, so I like this tradition.

I hope everyone has many good things to remember this year.

Rainy Wednesday

November 11, 2009

Last night there was a lot of rain. All day today it has been raining off and on. Because of the rain, all of the trains were delayed. Because the trains were late, I had to cancel plans. I was sad.

Tonight, I have a photo society meeting. I want to submit photos to a contest. At lunchtime today I walked to the photo store in the rain. I ordered three photos. After work I will pick them up.

On days like this I wear a rain jacket and rain pants. Also, I carry a backpack, so I have a pack cover to keep it dry.

The rain is very nice because it cleans the air and helps plants grow, but it is difficult for me to travel in the rain.

Prize Winning Photo

October 21, 2009

This year I submitted a photo to the Tsu City Exhibition. It is the largest photo I have ever printed. On Tuesday the photos were judged. My photo won a prize, so it should be displayed in the exhibit.

My picture is of two sumo wrestlers struggling in the ring. I will probably go to the first day of the show on Saturday.

Giant Photo of a Giant

October 1, 2009

This year I will submit a photo for the Tsu Exhibition. It will be very large. We are printing it on zenshi size paper.

The subject of the photo is also very large. A very fat sumo wrestler is leaning on a small, but strong, wrestler. The smaller athlete won the match, but he is struggling very hard in the photo.

My photo will be at the Region Plaza during the show.

Horseplay

June 28, 2009

One of my hobbies is photography. I am a member of a photo society in Hisai. Today we had a photo shoot at a stable. I took more than 400 photos of horses. I think I got three good photos.

It was rainy in the morning, but sunny in the afternoon. The horses seemed to have a good time too.

Our boxed lunches were a bit fatty, but they were good. I drank a lot of tea because I am worried about getting dehydrated during the summer.
