This morning I rode my bicycle to a school in the countryside. On the way, every car seemed to be in a hurry. Of course, every morning many drivers are rushing, but today it seemed like every car; and they seemed to be going very, very fast.
Why is everyone going fast today, I wonder…

Everyday I am outside walking or biking. Friday it rained. Monday it rained. It will rain today. It will rain Wednesday. Thursday we will be in the middle of a typhoon and it will rain a lot.
My jacket is Goretex. I also have Goretex pants. Hopefully they will keep me dry and warm during the rainstorms.

Recently there hasn’t been enough rain. It was very hot on the weekend. Today the weather changed.
It started raining this morning. The weather cooled off a lot. It felt very nice.
After work, I rode my bike to the train station. My pants got a little wet in the rain. It did not feel nice.
Tomorrow it will rain more. I will wear my rain pants.

Saturday morning I was hit by a car while cycling. The car did not stop before entering the roadway. I think he was late for work. In Japan (and America) we say “Safety First”, but usually we put time first and “Safety Second”.
Part of my ear was torn away from my head. A doctor sewed my ear back together. I am sad that people don’t think about safety more.
I am happy to be alive.

I bought a cheap bike to park at the train station. I don’t want to leave a nice bike at the station, because it could be stolen. Also, it will get rusty from all the rain.
However, the cheap bike keeps breaking and needing repairs. It is a dilemma! I don’t know what to do.

Since I moved to Ise, I have been commuting to Tsu by train. I bought a commuter pass. It is very convenient. I don’t need to buy tickets. I can go directly to the train.
Using a commuter pass saved me about 42% off the normal ticket prices.
Because I get on the train at Ujiyamada station, I can usually find a seat.
Many people who want to speak English sit or stand near me on the train. Maybe I should teach a class on the train.
The weather is getting very hot, but I will continue to use the train. I have lost a lot of weight since I stopped driving.

Last night it rained a lot in Ise. This morning we had light rain, but I went for a bike ride. I rode up the Miyagawa river to Watarai-cho Makae. The scenery there was beautiful. Mist was hanging around all of the forested mountains.

Officially it is rainy season in Japan. We have had some rainy days, but today was very hot and sunny. I bought expensive rain pants and a rain cover for my backpack. I think they are acting like a charm to keep the rain away.
Sometimes we joke in America that washing your car will cause it too rain.

After work I ran to the station to catch the quickest train home. Near the station I ate fried chicken and eggs over rice. Then I walked home and got on my bicycle.
I rode around the mountain by the outer shrine and down to the edge of Watarai-cho. It was good exercise. I want to ride all the way to Osugidani. I must practice more.
