Picking Up Trash

May 26, 2011

When I was young, my mother always taught us not to drop our garbage. She was very strict. Even if we dropped something small, like a candy wrapper, she would get very angry.

Some people think dropping a small piece of trash is not a problem. Actually, the small pieces of garbage that people drop every day are a big problem for the environment. Also, living in a place with garbage on the ground, feels very depressing.

My grandmother would carry a bag with her all the time. She used the bag to collect trash. If we were at the park, she would pick up litter. Sometimes I do this, too. I wish I did it more often.

Some people think they should only pick up their own garbage. I think we should pick up garbage around us because it makes the place we live more beautiful.

What do you think? Would you pick up other people’s garbage?

Rainy Drive

July 29, 2010

Today I work at a school near a train station. After work I will meet a friend near another train station. I live near a train station.

This morning I planned to ride the train to work.

When I left my house it was pouring rain. The rain was so hard I didn’t want to walk to the garbage cans. I definitely didn’t want to walk to the train station.

Today I drove my car.

Was it raining where you are?

Bad Blogger

January 5, 2010

During my winter holiday, I planned to write many blog entries, but I didn’t write any. Instead, I was busy learning about Japanese culture and tradition.

One tradition that kept me very busy was oosouji, which means doing a complete housecleaning. Lots of vacuuming, washing, scrubbing, repairing, sorting, and discarding. It was very tiring, but my home is much nicer now.

What a great way to start the New Year.

Too Much Trash

October 26, 2009

Yesterday I went hiking with friends. We saw beautiful trees, rivers, waterfalls, and rocks. I love the feeling of wandering around in the outdoors.

On the top of the mountain, I practiced playing my shakuhachi. It was fun, but it was very windy.

Unfortunately, there was a negative point. We found lots of garbage laying around. Many people threw away bottles, cans, bags, wrappers, etc. This made me very sad.

Commuter

My move to Ise is now complete. It was very difficult. My apartment is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator. My legs got very tired climbing up and down the stairs.

I threw away a lot of furniture and other items. I still have a lot of things I don’t need. Some things I will try to sell. Some things I will try to give away. Some things I will throw away.

Because I have many hobbies, I have a lot of things. Calligraphy, Photography, Cycling, Japanese, English, Games, Computers, Videos, Music, Cooking, …

Bottle Day

September 12, 2007

The garbage truck only picks up bottles one time each month. I often forget to put garbage out. If I forget bottle day, I have to wait for a whole month. Today I forgot again, but the truck was late so I had time to remember.
