All of my classes were shortened today. Why? Because of parent-teacher conferences. Home room teachers must meet with every parent to discuss their children’s progress. The teachers seem very very busy.
All of my students were on good behavior today. We had a lot of fun in class and learned a lot.

Today I had my car washed. I don’t like using machines to wash cars. Sometimes the machines scratch the cars. So, I asked them to wash the car by hand. It is more expensive to get the car hand-washed, but it is very pretty now.
Do you wash your own car? Do you wash it by hand or with a machine?
In America we have a superstition about washing cars. We think that washing the car will make it rain. I hope the weather doesn’t change.

I want to learn to ride a unicycle. One friend thinks it is not very difficult.
I learned to ride a tricycle when I was very, very young. I learned to ride a bicycle before elementary school.
I have very good balance on a bicycle, so I think I can learn to ride a unicycle.
A unicycle would be very convenient when traveling by train. After getting off the train, I could easily ride someplace.
Can you ride a unicycle?

Today, 19 children are out sick. Two of them have the Flu. The weather is very cold and rainy. It seems strange for mid-March.
I don’t feel very well either. My stomach hurts and I have diarrhea. I hope I don’t catch the Flu. Hopefully I can take a nap soon.
Are you healthy?

This week I received one hundred thousand yen from the government. My new car is very fuel efficient. Now the government is giving money to people who buy efficient cars.
One hundred thousand yen should be enough to pay for gasoline for more than a year.
I really love my car and this is just one more reason. Would you like to go for a ride in my car?

Pies are very popular in America. We make pies with all sorts of ingredients: fruits, berries, vegetables, chocolate, etc. Also, we put toppings on pies: whipped cream, ice cream, shredded cheese, etc. Pie crust can also be made from different ingredients like dough or graham cracker crumbs.
Pies are not very popular in Japan. I love Japanese food very much, but sometimes I miss something from America. A berry pie with ice cream would be nice.
We use many kinds of berries in pies: strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, marion berries, boysenberries, salmon berries, huckleberries, etc. Blackberry pie with vanilla ice cream is very good. If the pie is a little warm or hot, I really like it.

Today I was teaching a second grade class in the gym. During class an earthquake happened. The children were very scared. I tried to keep them calm while we listened to the announcements.
I was worried they might panic. We couldn’t feel the earthquake, so it wasn’t scary. The announcements were scary.
Many teachers don’t know in detail how the announcment system works. We are having a meeting to learn about the announcement system.

Last summer my computer broke. I was using it on a very hot day and it overheated. The hard drive was damaged.
My friend in America sent me information about how to fix the hard drive, but it was difficult and needed concentration. Because I am so busy, I kept putting off the repairs.
Today I read all of my friend’s messages carefully. I took many notes. After that, I successfully fixed the computer. Now I am very happy.
Since the summer I have been using my 12 year old computer. It is very slow and is falling apart. Now I can put the old computer in the closet and use the new computer.

Yesterday I ate simple foods prepared for tea ceremony. They were very tasty and healthy.
After eating, I learned more about the tea ceremony. I practiced whipping the tea. Green tea tastes so much better when it has frothy bubbles on the surface.
We talked a lot about how to look at the tea bowls. Because they are very expensive and precious, it is important to keep them safe while we are holding them.
Have you practiced tea ceremony? Do you like thick tea?

Yesterday, I drove to work. Normally on Tuesday’s I ride the train and then ride a bike to the school. It is faster to go by train, than to go by car.
When I checked the weather report, it said there was a 90% chance of rain. I drove by car to stay dry. The weather was cloudy in the morning, but it turned Sunny in the afternoon. I can’t trust the weather report.
Today I rode the train.
