Election Day

November 2, 2010

Today is election day in America. We call it a mid-term election. The President is elected for four years. The current President was elected in 2008. The next presidential election will be in 2012. 2010 is in the middle of a four year term, so we say mid-term.

In mid-term elections, the President can push very hard for key candidates. It is safe to make very strong statements, because the President is not being selected.

This year, we expect that the Democrats will lose control of Congress. Many people are angry about the government using too much money to help banks and car companies.

When do you have elections in your country? Can you vote? Do you?

Stress is very dangerous. If we have too much stress, our blood pressure can go up. Also, it can cause us to make panicked decisions. It is very important to relieve stress.

People relieve stress in different ways. Eating healthy food can reduce stress or help the body react to stress. Sleeping for six to eight hours every night can also get rid of stress. Regular exercise is a good way to deal with stress.

Some people yell a lot when they are stressed, but it usually doesn’t relieve stress. It helps people feel better for a moment, but often they get more angry.

An important way to reduce stress is to avoid stressful activities. Sometimes that isn’t possible, but it is good to try.
